I’m working on typesetting a Giuliani’s Theme and Variations Op. 45, and I’d like your help.

Here’s the version I’ve typeset. Please take a look, and let me know if you find any errors, inconsistencies, weird visual things (notes/accidentals/whatever running together, etc.), or anything else that looks off. This version does not have any fingerings, though I may add some to the finale copy.

Here’s a version at the boije collection for comparison. And here’s another at the Danish Royal Library.

A few things:

  • I’ve missed a note in Variation V, measure 8 (last dyad in the measure), it should be C# not G. Whoops!
  • Variation IV has some different expression markings. Mostly because the markings on the versions at Boije Collection and the Danish Library don’t make sense. Some of the Decrescendo markings were probably meant to be accents and the idea was lost in typesetting. I realize this is a matter of opinion.
  • I tried to give the music a lot of white space for notes and other things. Do you like that? Would you rather have less pages and less white space?

Thanks! I hope to add more and more free, public domain sheet music to this website as time goes on. This is just the first step. If anyone else is interested in typesetting some pieces, please contact me.

Var IV, second to last measure: Fourth 16th note should be B flat, not C.

Measure 7 of the theme has d in the base, should be f.

Measure 8 of variation II: missing slur line of the first two 16th notes of the 3rd beat. Original has no slur over the 3rd and 4th 16th notes.

Measure 1 of variation IV: The second 16th note of the first beat should be d, not c.
